Mat on the floor vs. massage table?

Maybe you have also wondered why I perform sound massage on the floor, even though there are very comfortable massage tables available.
The answer is simple: the ground is stable, and that stability is important for creating a sense of safety.
When the body is fully in contact with the floor, it signals stability and support to the nervous system. This grounding experience helps the body relax more deeply.
On a massage table, the surface is slightly flexible, which can soften or absorb some of the subtle vibrations. On the floor, the vibrations of the singing bowls can travel through the body more clearly and evenly.
Lying on the floor also allows the body weight to be distributed more naturally. There is no need to make micro-adjustments for balance, and there is no subtle feeling of “falling.”
This makes it easier for attention to turn inward.
Sound massage is different from a classical treatment, so achieving its full effect requires a slightly different setup, such as a mat and the stability of the floor.
That said, a massage table can still be appropriate, especially if someone finds it difficult to get up from the floor.
